Therefore she brings a business and professional element of expertise to the clinic. Her main clinical interest is diabetes and sports. Her love for the diabetic foot grew after her training at the Diabetic Foot Clinic at King College Hospital, London, UK back in 1993. This paved the way for her to become intimately involved in various projects related to promotion, education and change in diabetes care. Whilst pioneering a new profession in Barbados she never lost focus on diabetes. She went on to do specialist training in the field and has done extensive work with the International Working Group on the Diabetic foot in association with the Rotary Club of Ledbury, UK and local Rotary Club of Barbados South in implementing the “step by step” programme across the region. A founding member and Trustee at the Barbados Diabetes Foundation, located at the Maria Holder Diabetes Center for the Caribbean, she is continuing her work with a local team of Podiatrist to establish the first Diabetic Foot clinic in Barbados under the roof of the Center. She continues to represent Barbados on the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF) and most recently became a member of an International working group for strengthening the Podiatry profession Internationally under the auspices of her International professional body The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists (SOCAP).
